I spoke with the Sea today
and she talked with me
Old friends together again
basking in the warm summer sun
Her waves so tranquil and calm
a lovely balm to the pain
Of never seeing you again
the Sea called to me
Upon her shore I sat down
legs stretched out in the sand
Her water lapped at my toes
as I could no longer stand
Age has begun to reclaim
my bones – my skin and my brain
But the Sea I remember well
and the Sea remembers me
Be still she whispered to me
let my sand a bed for you be
Close your eyes and rest for a while
and I’ll carry you home
