In response to Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt – #289 – ENGRAVE in 23 words

Engrave upon my soul
love’s deep
everlasting communion
of heart
Lest one day
it’s taken away
that I might remember
love’s comforting warmth

Weekend Sky #82
December 10, 2022
Hosted by Hammad Rais

Red sky marks the setting sun
the brilliant day is gone
A short time I got to see
your beaches and palm trees
Florida my one true home
my heart belongs to you
Someday you will call me back
back to where I belong

In response to Fandango’s prompt
Do you ever see wild animals?
There are certain times of the week that wild animals are more prevalent in my neighborhood. It’s during these times when I have to be extra cautious about allowing my grandson to play or ride his bike outside my fenced yard. I have to keep my dogs confined to keep them safe as well.
One wrong move and they could be flattened. A loud noise or misconstrued sound and my loved ones could and probably would be viciously attacked.
Over time, I have noticed that the intake of particular plants, herbs, fluids or other extraneous edibles, create a sense of paranoia and even prosecution in these wild creatures, therefore, I’m very careful to keep my beloved dogs and precious grandson inside when the inhabitants, of which there are many; start partying hard in the dilapidated house on the corner. Talk about wild animals!

In response to Weekly Prompts Colour Challenge – Pinkish
From Sue W and GC
Two years ago you came to me
a tiny thing you were
A little girl from a distant farm
in need of a loving mom
I did not know that you’d become
so very important to me
A furry bundle of energy
looking more like a cub than a pup
Energetic and so inquisitive
yet so very shy and scared
Born into an Amish family
calm and quiet all you knew
Like the sweet pink flowers
you loved to pounce
You blossomed into this beauty
Without you now I would be lost
My little pink harnessed new puppy!

Hot or cold
Left or right
Why can’t they ever
get these faucets right?
A giant tub
A massive jacuzzi
The water pressure here
makes a girl so woozy
My toes went in fast
my shivering body followed
Couldn’t wait to dip beneath
it’s warmth and wallow
The water’s reached
it’s highest peak
But it’s internal heater
was on the blink!
The liquid I had perceived
to be roiling hot and luxurious
Was cold as ice forcing me
to exit quite uproariously!

What Do You See (WDYS) #163 December 5, 2022 posted by Sadje
During the worst drought in recorded history, the waters of San Francisco Bay dropped to levels so low, the wreck of the steamboat The City of Chester was finally located.
Shortly after Chester was discovered, The NoonDay, an 1800’s clipper ship, The S.S. Selja, a workhorse cargo steamer which sank in 1910 and The S.S. City of Rio de Janeiro, a steamer carrying immigrants to the New World and sank in 1901 were also exposed to research divers. These divers, previously unable to penetrate the extreme depths and cold waters of the Bay, eventually located over 300 wrecks dating back hundreds of years.
These lost and hidden undersea antiquities were treasured finds to the historians and scientists of the world; but no one had been prepared for the discovery of the Merpeople graves and gravestones revealed by the massive silt vacuums of the powerful underwater dredges.

Light from the burning flame
split my world apart
The walls fell around me
Ashes snaked between
a gap forged in my own
numb longing heart
Reaching out I touch
the charred remains of my life
the remnants slip through my fingers
