This is the first year without his card. Every year for forty-two years he sent the sweetest Valentine’s Day card with an invitation to dine out as though we were young and it was our first date.
I would take a long bath in gardenia perfumed water, do my toes and nails, apply the usually not worn make-up and dry my hair into some-what controllable waves. I have very curly hair that likes to roll up and stay on my head so I rarely bother using the blow-dryer.
Not this year. I miss you love.
Such a beautiful story Ami.

Thankfully, at least for me, this is a work of fiction. But I do have several friends that have lost their husbands and the pain is overwhelming. Thank you for reading. 😊

I can imagine. I still miss my parents, Dad died in 1996 and Mum 2018. I am lucky to have some wonderful memories.

Yes, both my parents are gone as well. Mother in 1996 and father in 2019. Seems like yesterday when I was ten years old and playing outside with my sisters. So fast it slips away …..
