Prompt word CHRYSALIS

Her cocoon so soft and warm
safe
Stay she would in this time and 
place

The world outside could whirl and
twirl
She’d stay inside protected a good
girl

No matter how they poked and
pried
Inside her cocoon so safe she never
cried

Out there were monsters and evil
things
Protected in her cocoon she hid her
wings

Pretending her chrysalis had yet to
be
To emerge from here they might not
see

Past translucent wings of unearthly 
cadency 
To a mind riddled with abstract 
insanity

  Most definitely. I’ve gone many nights now without sleep or only an hour or two. I’ve often thought that a couple asleep in each other’s arms was very cocoon-like. ~Gypsie

Stunning, stunning, stunning…we can all relate to this, so powerful in topic and in style, with its fundamental ‘message’ and specific ideas to current situations. Such a stunning concept. This is what poetry is for. Hope my words were not too pretentious, certainly so appreciative.
