On paper everything looks to be
just as sweet as sweet can be
He takes her and she takes him
together now their life begins
When next a paper does arise
he brushes teardrops from her eyes
A baby girl was born to them
another paper signing then
A few years later to their surprise
a little boy package does arrive
But with this child some issues came this child it seems was not the same
Papers oh papers were thrust upon sign here sign there and on and on
Insurance papers – insurance waivers
doctor bills and begging favors
Soon enough the tension built
forgotten words before the guilt
The edge of time brought no relief
each one dealing with their own grief
The united two were separate now
one got the car and one the house
Papers spread across the table
Lawyers bade them sign when able
On the papers they began to sign
then their eyes met one last time
Pen by pen they stopped and then
looked at each other starting to grin
Not this time they said as one
these papers here just be gone
No doctor bills or insurance waivers
Nor complicated lawyers papers
Can set apart these two from one
our family life has just begun
The loving family of all four
proudly walked out the lawyers door
Well articulated ❤️
