The front door opens
you walk through
your back straight
much stronger than
I am
Another goodbye
fingers trail together
puppy frets in the back
you navigate out of
my driveway
Sun glints off the cab
of your new pick-up truck
hiding tears of your leaving
in the backseat your little
puppy’s whining
She just like me does not
want you to leave to stay
here for good would
be heaven
Laying here in my bed
alone and so cold
thinking about who
you are with now
heart hurting
Wondering how long
it will be until you are
back here with me
and as happy again as
I am
