Written in response to dVerse Poets Pub – Open Link Night #325 “And So The Story Goes…”
Alone on a sea
full of life
filled with predation
nurtured by death
Bright fish of orange
red, purple and blue
swim beneath my craft
ignorant of their fate
Deep azure ocean
surrounds me rocks me
taunts me – even the Great White
shark finds its mate in the amass
Drifting with the tide
only the current knows my course
I lay back watching
the stars pass by overhead
I love your last stanza, drifting with the current on a quiet sail. I’m there!

The ocean “rocks” “taunts” — like life — cradles and frightens at once, doesn’t it? I love that metaphor. Still the current of the poem, unruffled, at peace. Beautifully conveyed, Ami.

I really like your poem. Life does feel like that quite often. Drifting with the tide.
