Unlike two meteors
that collide in the darkness
the nothingness of deep space
They met by choice although Fate
played a joker’s hand on that day
Her looking for love and devotion
Him looking for a distraction
someone to care for and to nurture
to use when convenient or needed
Like a sticky spiders web intricate
in its weave he enraptured her and wrapped her within his warm cocoon
Dangling from a fine silvery thread waiting for his return with wings
folded tight around her lithe form
But if the butterfly’s bed of silk
is not tended and left to dry out
the creature within withers away
The spider perpetually busy spinning
and working building himself
a strong home does not notice
No matter to the spider as butterflies
are plentiful and always looking
for a place to alight and call home
The spider seems to be very callous

Not sure spiders can be callous to be honest. They are however, interested in their own survival and know what they want, when and where.
