Night has slipped away,
morning light dapples
through leaves not yet
dropped in the Fall breeze.
Bird call stirs my soul,
my throat aches to answer in kind.
Woodpecker’s laugh as they break
open their peanuts on a tall light pole.
Tiny chickadee’s swoop in and out
snatching their favored bits from
the feeder before darting back into
the security of the pine branches.
Squirrels and doves sit patiently
on the ground, awaiting bird scraps.
Thrushes barge in by three’s knocking other ground feeder’s out of the way.
The breeze picks up, a storm
approaches sending large raindrops
ahead. One last spattering of sweet
bird song before we all must go in.
You caught the scene perfectly 💜

Thank you Willow! The bird feeder was a gift from a friend several months ago and all kinds of birds flock to it now! 😊
