Circadian Rhythm

Darkness attacks at dusk
imparting it’s demand
for sleep

Midnight comes
and midnight leaves
wide awake

Sunlight calls forth
a weary tortured soul
asleep at midday

The sun rises the sun falls
the moon beckons the night
no sleep

Morning comes with eyes wide
nightly vigil is complete
now it’s time to sleep

Head lulls forward in day
nightly energy abounds
broken Circadian rhythm

You have written my life story. Stop that! No but seriously, it sucks to have a broken clock. I have a bunch of sleep poems too. This is really good one. I especially like the penultimate stanza.

I know what this feels like. The answer would be to force oneself to not sleep during the day 🥹

    1. Thank you Sadje! Tried that several times, was up four full nights and days without sleep! I’ve fought with it my entire life unfortunately. 💙

Aww, I’m so sorry my friend. Going without sleep is torture. Revised instructions are; sleep whenever you can. Hugs.
