I have a very special friend,
quite uncommon and hard to get.
Though she is mine and I hers,
a regular pet she will never be.

When she was small and oh so cute,
not one person even had a clue.
No idea of what she would become,
when in time an adult she’d be.

She called to me before she was born,
a dream-vision I had just before morn.
In that time of waking sleepiness,
when the rest of the world still rests.

The vision of her was crystal clear,
she stayed close by me, always near.
Walking together on a sandy beach,
always within each other’s reach.

I started searching that very day,
I feared she might be too far away.
Two years went by without any luck,
I nearly gave up in truth I was stuck.

Upon my back I had her drawn,
the ink applied it took until dawn.
It was after that I received a call,
Wolf-pups conceived that very Fall.

In the Spring of that following year,
she came to me grinning ear to ear.
It took work and determination,
for both to form a solid foundation.

Nine years ago my life was brightened,
and for some she is quite frightening.
A truer friend there’ll never be,
she is mine and I am hers for all eternity.

Both are lovely, beautiful, indivividuals with a rare bond..
Only rarely are the rest of us so fortunate…
