Anniversary

D.L. Franklin 03/19/1933 – 03/29/2016

Today is the day you went away
drifted away so soundlessly
A bigger man I never knew
no other would ever compare to you

Ten years it’s been since that fateful day
a slip of the wheel with a crash and a bang
Is all it took to take my Dad from me
something I never thought I’d ever see

Here I sit an old woman now
your face and your voice still clear in my mind
How I wish you were here to hold my hand
instead of spread across the cold hard land

Someday I hope to see you again
if what you taught me comes to pass and then
I’ll run into my Daddy’s arms
safe and sound and finally warm

I have seen mine but not spoken in my dreams. However, I speak to and see my Grandmother in my dreams, quite often.

I am so sorry for your loss Ami.
It will be 30 years on May 13th since my Dad passed away. He was 67. It seems like yesterday sometimes.

Thank you Di. My mother was 57 when she passed from ovarian cancer; I’ve survived her by almost 11 years (she passed in 1996). It’s amazing how quickly time goes by but yet, seems like forever ago since last we saw them. ((hugs))

Both of my parents have come to me in dreams but so far not together. My Mum has spoken to me, but my Dad has just been watching and smiling.
