In the Distance

Far into the distance
a future unknown
A place and time wished for
a love never shown

A star so far away
clearly out of reach
Completely unattainable
to be seen but never breached

A light shining in the distance
its warmth apparent and never felt
Striking all the lovely planets
luckily within its orbital belt

As the future encroaches
rapidly docile as it stalks
A life gone by beneath the stars
living inside a sealed shut box
