  • TRUE LOVE

    Ragtag (RDP) Sunday Prompt
    hosted by drkottaway:
TRUE LOVE – What that means to you.

    Lifting a dog weighing over
    one hundred pounds
    racing to the vet
    to save her
    TRUE LOVE

    Waiting for someone far away
    who may come sooner
or may not come at all
    because he’s worth the wait
    TRUE LOVE

    Listening to a daughter
    ravaged by mental illness
    alcoholism and drug addiction
    repeat herself on the phone
    TRUE LOVE

    Remaining hopeful and hoping
beyond hope that an estranged son
    will one day see through
    perceived pain and come home
    TRUE LOVE

    Standing firm beside a friend
facing a life riddled with disease
    pain and mortifying debilitation
    remaining joyful and supportive
    TRUE LOVE

And not purchasing a BB gun to dissuade a very hungry bunny
    from decimating a garden full
of beautiful flowers to fill his tummy
    Definitely TRUE LOVE

  • The Seer

    The Sunday Whirl Wordle #611
Hosted by Brenda Warren mingled dim damp shallow spell gaze drifts shattered call twitch words split

Deep within the damp shallow grave
    the Seer’s inner gaze
    watched a finger twitch

Her vision dim and the call
    of her spell shattered words
    split into silence by fear

    Fractured images mingled together
drifts of newly dug earth shifted
a scream and her creations emerged

  • ROCK-ing

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS July 1, 2023 is ROCK Hosted by Linda G. Hill

    I love to rock
    it soothes my soul
    back and forth
    forth and back
Then do it again and again

    Slow or fast
    sometimes in-between
    sitting way up front
    or curled into the back
It doesn’t much matter to me

    I rock in the morning
    I rock at night
    I rock in the evening
    and at dawn’s first light
Often I rock myself to sleep

    I’m an old woman now
not much more to be said
    except now I can rock
    morning, noon and night
And no one can complain about that!

  • Summer Heat

    lacienciadelcafe.com.ar

    Summer heat beating down
    scorching young leaves
    turning green grass brown

Flowers turn their face to the rays
only to droop and gradually fade
    just past the hot midday

Birds take to the safety of trees
    their little wings held out
trying to cool in the warm breeze

    Crickets chirp and frogs sing
even before the dusk rolls in
hoping a cool night they’ll bring

Cats and dogs alike seek shade
    waiting for owners return
from school and work for the day

I stand beneath the old Palm Tree
    breathlessly waiting for you
to return from a turbulent sea

  • Another Thunderstorm

    Another rainstorm without you
    far away in another land
    in another life
    with others

    Happy people surround you
    love a side of you
    I will never know
    in this life

    Memories assault my weariness
    rain pounding the camper roof
    the sound melodious and raw
    as we lay together

    Lightening and thunder
    form an impenetrable wall
    blocking out the world
    outside us

    Too soon the tempest ended
the time of your leaving came
    a kiss a goodbye
    and you were gone

    Another thunderstorm without you
    rain slashes the shingled roof
    thunder rocks misty windows
    I lay alone and listen

  • Silly Rabbit

    In response to
    bushboy’s Ragtag Daily Prompt –
    Thursday word: Vitiated

    My flowers have bloomed
    there’s barely any room
so full and luscious they are

    After watering them last night
I wound the hose up tight
slipped into my bed to sleep

    Bright morning had come
    a warm summer day sun
to go out and enjoy my new buds

    Oh horror and dismay
to find my garden in disarray
not a single flower bud in sight

    My garden’s abominated
    each stem and bud vitiated
a silly rabbit the one to blame

  • One More Day

    Photograph by Gypsie-Ami Offenbacher-Ferris

One more day is all I ask
    to tend my sweet flowers
    Complete my garden tasks

    Watch them grow another day
    to see their blazing colors
    This mantra I do pray

    Make sure the luscious soil
    stays nicely moist
    Watering my lovely cinquefoil‘s

To hear the bees all around
    bouncing flower to flower
    Singing their happy bee sounds

    Shoo the wild squirrel’s
    out from my bedded bulbs
    Their bushy tails unfurled

    Pull errant unsightly weeds
    beneath the plants they hide
    Apologizing for the need

    Seedlings need transplanted
their pots have grown too small
For this I must be granted

Just one more day I implore
    to gaze upon my garden
Or perhaps even a little more!
