  • Waiting

    istockphoto.com

Sand dune covered in sea grass
    breeze blowing delicate fronds
    back and forth
    to and fro

    Waiting

Lone surfer loitering on a sea
    buffeted by gentle waves
    rolling up and down
    stalling then lifting again

    Waiting

Tiny little chickadee upon the reed
swaying in the wind holding tightly
    around and around
twisting so close to the ground

    Waiting

    Lonely woman walking the beach
    eyes scan the horizon
    no ship to be found
    circles back around

    Waiting

  • Where Are You Now?

    Where are you now
    so far away
    Unaware of my pain

    Why have you gone
    and left me alone
    No one to call

    No one to come
    to my aid injured
    Suffering in solitude

    No one’s priority
    singularity unwanted
    Calls go unanswered

    Where have you gone
    why did you choose to
    Leave me here bereft

    The world grows colder
    the wound gets hotter
    Still there is only silence

In response to What do you see # 188 – May 29, 2023 hosted by Sadje

    Walk away never look back
    what came before
    reflects what you lacked

    Your light shines bright
    without friend or foe
go strong into the dark night

Fear not what you have lost
    mourn for nothing gained
    left behind in the frost

The road ahead barren and still
    only pain to be found
    behind that last hill

    Walk on without looking back
preserve self love and strong will
    form your own private wolf-pack

  • Excess

In response to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). EXCESS

    Life overflows with excesses
    for some
    and more is wanted

    Excess leads to greed
    the need to obtain extra
    go higher

    Augment that which
    is already possessed
    blinded by what is had

    Ignorant of those
    who have not
    no supplementary

    Unaware of humanities
    basic deficiencies inability
    to attain excessiveness

    Creating chasms
    broken social strictures
    chaos and unrest

    Excess breeds exclusivity
    feeding the full
    leaving the hungry –

    hungry

    Simply 6 Minutes – Challenge: 05/23/2023

I am a goldfish, I’m orange but I’m called a goldfish, instead of an orange- fish. I suppose I’d be rounder and look more like an orange from one of those green trees up on dry land. Sometimes the big, round orange fruit things roll down the hill and into the water; we all get to have some nibbles when that happens. The best part is in the middle, so I always volunteer to go last in line.

There’s nothing golden about me though. My parents had hoped for a bigger, stronger fish I think. They are trying to force me into being something I’m not by strapping this shark fin to my back. Yes, it’s also a floaty. You see, I’m a gold, orange-fish that can not swim. Every time I try, I float up to the surface on my side! I can not stay down, nor can I swim straight.

I’m told that if I can’t swim straight and become more like a shark, I will never make anything of myself. Yet, I like being a lopsided orange-fish who can’t swim straight.

Why can’t they just let me, be me?

  • A Bird

    Photograph by Gypsie-Ami Offenbacher-Ferris

    Flew down from a tree
    diseased
    He lit upon my birdbath
    blue

    His head remained on a
    swivel
    Danger lurked with each manic
    turn

Up and down the birds head
    bobbed
    Watching alertly slipping into the
    pond

It dipped into the chill water and
    out
    Watching and listening to every
    sound

Two then three dips did he
    take
    Shook out his tail-feathers until
    dry

Away he went into a tree
    diseased
    Away from my lovely bird-bath
    blue

    The Sunday Whirl Wordle #606

    Submissive heat
    red hot
    surrounded him

    Parched from abstinence
    misty past memories
    engulfed him

    Only the chill
    of unending yearning
    upset him

    Distant memories
    and past exploitations
    haunted him

  • 🙏Garden Prayer🙏

    Photograph by Gypsie-Ami Offenbacher-Ferris

    Sun shine down
    on my sweet Garden
    Feed my plants
    help them grow

    Weeds keep me nimble
    pulling and prodding
    Forces old joints to bend
though they do not want to

    Rain fall lightly
    from the sky
    Brighten my flowers
    make them shine

    Night rejuvenate roots
    sending them deep
    Nourish the stems
    to feed hungry leaves

    Day please wake me
    to the wondrous sight
    My Garden greets me
    fed, nourished, watered and right
