By Ami (Gypsie) Offenbacher-Ferris

Forehead on the chilled window
looking back in time
Different people different situation
same scenario – alone
Just when everything felt so right
falling into place
Words uttered in hushed tones made it so – clear
A deep breath to alleviate the pain
slicing through my chest
Realization of what I am
nearly too much to – bear
Peering out the frosty window
images of the past float by
Fluttering of distant feelings
Distant needs present – still
Silly girl now silly woman
expectations never change
Only places and the faces
and disappointment still – reigns
Your poem pulled me right in Ami. Expectations are death of a relationship.

I agree for the most part … unless the expectations were voiced or agreed upon in the beginning. Sort of like reneging on a contractual agreement. Thank you for reading and responding Sadje, I truly appreciate it. ☺️

You’re welcome my friend. I’ve given up on expectations and now my life is easier.
