    look at me
    the buds all say
    releasing fragrant spray

The rays of the sun warm the cold ground, tiny roots begin to stir stretching from their cold slumber toward the warmth. Deep, thick roots groan, awakened by their children above.

The ground softens giving way, allowing deep roots access to the previously frozen, nutrient packed soil. Sun warmed and nutrient fed, green leaves sprout joyfully, pushing white sparkling buds forth. The sweet, aromatic smell of Gardenia’s perfume the air in celebration of Spring.

“Look Mama! The trees are dancing again!”

The tiny mother fairy flitted closer to her even tinier girl-child, enjoying the wonder on her daughters face as she watched the magic of the forest.

“They dance for you my little one, a very special honor because it means you are an Earth fairy, to protect and nourish all things of the Earth, living and inert my little love.”

“You mean like the dancing trees and singing rocks Mama, like those you mean and the rivers and animals and humans too Mama, right?”

“Well, I, I had never considered it but, as you said it then it must be so my child, so yes, humans too, although you know it is forbidden to be seen by one, don’t you?”

“Yes Mama, then we need to leave right away because a whole bunch of them, the humans are coming with their sharp things and nets and noise and look, the trees have already stopped dancing, come on Mama, come on, hurry, hurry Mama!”

    Not good enough
    Never good enough
    Always I am lacking

    Hours and hours
    I paint and I paint
    Always I am slacking

    Brushes move to and fro
In and out dipping and flicking
    Always I am retracting

    No forward movement
    Unable to break through
    Always I am counteracting

The lake so calm so blue
This painting I will gift to you
    Always I am detaching

    “You nervous?” Cheri asked.

“Extremely,” I answered, “Kyle’s supposed to be extracted from Afghanistan soon.”

“Why are medical places always so cold?”Cheri complained.

“I guess to keep the germs out,” I murmured.

    “You alright?” Cheri asked.

“I’m really tense, but excited too.” I said.

“Miss Franklin, we’re ready for you now.”

A lady in pink sat me in a medical chair. A tall man in a white lab coat and easy smile, came in.

“Open wide then, let’s get those teeth extracted. Your fiancé’ll be surprised won’t he?” He asked.

I nodded, closed my eyes and opened wide.

Prompt Words: PLANETS MOON FLASH ETERNITY BOX TIP CHECK TRAIL PET RELISH EMBELLISH DETECTIVE

    Lost
    By Gypsie-Ami Offenbacher-Ferris

I knew she was lost for all eternity, the moon and the planets had come into alignment, just as that old detective had warned me would happen.

I had not believed him, he was known to embellish his findings and foretelling’s with relish. The trail had gone cold, even before I had finished checking every street in four counties searching for her.

My beloved pet was gone, I’d never be able to make it without her. She was my companion, my helper, my assistance, my friend.

I sat on the old couch where she slept, completely devastated. That’s when the doorbell rang once, twice, three times before I could manage to get myself up and walk to the front door.

The detective stood on the other side of the heavy door, holding a box in one hand and his old police issue flashlight in the other. My heart sank, starring down at that loathsome box. Something white barely stuck out of the tipped up end he was holding.

    “Open it,” he said quietly.

My hands shook, my imagination running wild with horrific images of my girl, somehow stuffed inside. I knew it was impossible, she was much too large; but the fear was stark and real.

We ended up sitting down together on my sweet pet’s couch, the box now resting on my lap. Slowly, I lifted the lid to find a tuft of her white fur taped crudely onto a piece of paper with little bits of cut out letters glued haphazardly together.

    It was a ransom note!

    Three Things Challenge #950
    Prompt hosted by pensitivity101
    Your three words today are:
    CROWD, BUSY, RUSH
    __________________

As the busy crowd rushes by
    I stand alone
Watching the people come and go

Unable to be them or join them
    I wonder why
As the busy crowd rushes by

Perhaps if I rush as they do
    If only I could
They would see me here all alone

Moving away from the busy crowd
    Nobody sees me
Perhaps if I rush as they do

    many kicks more until then
your time to enter this new world
arriving just fine and exactly on time

just now I looked up to see
a young man all grown now on his own without me not needing a mom
